Following a diet is never easy, especially when you are just starting, and frankly just because you’re going to do the Atkins Diet, it doesn’t mean that it will get any easier either. Sure, you can eat almost unlimited quantity of high fat and high protein foods, but you’re still on a diet and you still need to limit your food intake.

For a start off, you will have to control your carbohydrate consumption especially in the first stage of your diet, and although you are allowed to increase that incrementally later on in the diet, you might still be missing your favourite carbs, like bread or chocolate, and might still be prone to these cravings. And that’s where some of the Atkins products can help.

Having tasted a few of the Atkins products myself, I have to say that I think them to be value for money. They are not cheap, but then again, nor are they so expensive that you’ll only be able to afford one item and go hungry for the rest of the time, although that might, in its own way ensure that you would lose your excess weight!

However, you’ll be glad to know that there’s a range of Atkins products for you to choose from that can help satisfy even your worst food cravings and as an added benefit, as I said earlier, they taste great as well. But if that isn’t enough for you, you’ll be happy to hear that they can also assuage your sweet cravings too, as well as being good for you and filling you up!

So, which Atkins products are available? Well, it is impossible to describe them all here because they extend over a wide range of foodstuffs, so it really depends on what phase of the diet you’re at and what you foodstuff you miss. If it’s breakfast bars, then you’ve got the ‘Morning Start Breakfast Bars’ which is high in protein and fibre and which also has the right amount of calcium you need as well. Then you’ll come across my own personal favourite, the ‘Peanut Butter Granola Bar’, filled with crunchy goodness and peanut butter.

Then again if you truly crave something from your diet, you can always try one of the Atkins products which feature different flavours, say the milk shakes. For example, if you miss chocolate, you could try an Atkins Chocolate Milk Shake. Let’s be honest, where would you be without milk shakes? Probably in the same place you’d be without your ‘Chocolate Peanut Butter Bars’.

Have you read enough to whet your appetite? Do you reckon that you can stick to your diet with any of these Atkins products sitting in your cupboards with only a modicum of moaning?

There you are then, what are you waiting for, go and grab your Atkins products now. There’s only so much will power a person has, so the better prepared you are the easier your diet will be! And so the quicker you can lose that weight.

Do you want to lose that excess weight real fast? Well, take a free look at Atkins Products, by going to our website called The Atkins Diet Plan You can get a unique content version of this article from the Uber Article Directory.

The Atkins Grapefruit diet is a diet plan, not endorsed by the eponymous Dr. Atkins company, that plays on the fame of the grapefruit diet and the Atkins diet name. However, a closer look into this diet reveals that it may not be all it claims to be.

First off, it’s pretty difficult to find information on the Atkins grapefruit diet plan. Clever people know that when someone is perpetrating a deception, or a con, they will often gloss over the facts. This is what the Atkins grapefruit diet seems to do in an attempt to get people to associate it with two supposedly effective diets.

Is the Atkins Grapefruit Diet part of the Atkins Diet or recommended by the late Dr. Atkins’ company? The answer is a resounding no, not only is there no mention of the Atkins Grapefruit Diet on the Atkins web site, but there is no fruit of any sort mentioned in the list of allowed foods in the Atkins diet Induction phase either.

The induction phase allows the following foods: fish of all kinds; all fowl such as turkey and chicken; any shellfish; any meat such as beef or pork; eggs cooked in any style including fried; cheese; vegetables; herbs and spices; fats and oils; low carbohydrate beverages including diet soft drinks.

Please, notice one thing – fruit is not on that list. Later phases of the Atkins diet do include limited amounts of fruits such as cantaloupe and even lemon juice, and the pre-maintenance and maintenance phases even specifically allow small quantities of grapefruit. But when compared to the amount of Grapefruit recommended on the Atkins Grapefruit Diet, again there is a massive disagreement.

The Atkins Grapefruit Diet recommends a cup of grapefruit juice or a cup of grapefruit sections, with 8 and 18 carbs respectively. Even the most generous phases of the Atkins diet suggests restricting intake to below 8 carbs per day, when it comes to grapefruit. That’s a direct contradiction from one plan to the other.

Most reasonable people would look directly at the Atkins website the moment they heard of the Atkins Grapefruit Diet. When they found no mention of that diet on their site, a red light would go off and an alarmbell would ring.

In general, remember this: any diet that relies too heavily on one food, such as grapefruit in a grapefruit diet, is unhealthy for any but extremely short periods. The Atkins Grapefruit Diet is not associated with the Atkins diet, and may interfere with the results of the Atkins diet in its early phases.

The popular name for the ‘Atkins Nutritional Approach’ is the ‘Atkins Diet’, which was the invention of Doctor Robert Atkins. Dr. Atkins had gained a lot of surplus weight while he was studying in medical school and after reading about a new diet in the medical journal, he made up his mind to refine it and publish it as his own.

Atkins, in his Atkins diet book, stated that he was sure that the current theories about weight gain were terribly wrong. First, he mocked the idea that saturated fats were bad for weight loss; instead he said it was it was the carbohydrates that caused the weight problems Americans have these days. Atkins held that on the contrary, our obsession with avoiding fat actually worsened the problem. He pointed out that the low-fat diet foods on the market were high in carbohydrates but were not helping the nation, which probably meant that people on a ‘normal’ diet often ate foods that were worse for them than what they had been eating before.

The Atkins diet shifted the focus. Atkins said that by cutting out carbohydrates, people would consume stored body fats. And, of course, if you lose the fat, you lose the weight. He said it was not just a matter of eating less. Atkins postulated that your diet could actually help you burn calories and The Atkins Diet supposedly burned more calories than were consumed everyday. But the claims were disputed.

Dr. Atkins also promulgated the positive influence that his diet could have on suffers of type 2 diabetes. Type 1 diabetes is a disease you get early in life, but type 2 is often closely associated with diet and excess body weight. So, it should follow that any diet that helps reduce weight, will help people with Type 2 diabetes. The Atkins diet is low in carbohydrates, which ought to be avoided with type 2 diabetes regardless of the caloric intake, so because of this aspect of the diet, Atkins claimed that those who suffer type 2 diabetes would no longer need medication such as insulin. In general, doctors disagree with Atkins on this point, although they do agree, however, that a lower carbohydrate intake helps control Type 2 diabetes, but there is no proof that carbohydrates cause diabetes.

What are the procedures one has to follow to do the Atkins diet? It goes in four phases – Induction; On-Going Weight loss; Pre-maintenance; and Lifetime Maintenance. Here follows a brief precis of the most important phase – The Induction Phase.

The Induction phase is probably the most difficult of the phases in the Atkins diet. Atkins is rather flexible about how long it should last ” but recommends two weeks. During this time, carbohydrate consumption should be severely curtailed ” up to 20 grammes per day. The goal is to enter a fat burning metabolic process called ‘ketosis’ which is when the body, being starved of glucose, starts to convert previously stored fat into the fatty acids needed to power the body. Weight loss during this period is often large ” some Atkins dieters report losses of 5-10 lbs. a week or more.

The goals of the final three phases in the Atkins diet are to learn the ideal carbohydrate levels for the next two phases, which are continued weight loss and weight maintenance. Many millions of people are still losing the weight they want to on the Atkins Diet ” but be aware of the risks of consuming in too much cholesterol and fat.

Some people have to try to make your life miserable, if you let them. It was obvious to everyone that I looked and felt better, but some people just have to try to spoil it. I was told: lots of people have died of kidney or liver failure after being on Atkins I read it in the newspaper; you will have a heart attack, it’s not natural; your cholesterol will climb sky high and you will need your toes amputated or you will have a stroke; it will affect your eyesight. All sorts of rubbish. So, I went to see my GP, who admitted that he did not know anything about the Atkins diet, but he also added that he had heard nothing bad about it either. He sent me for a series of tests at the hospital and the results were all satisfactory. He was happy that I’d lost 18 lbs and so was I. Six weeks later, I went for another cholesterol check-up, because of the high fat levels in the diet and, although my cholesterol level was up very slightly, the doctor said there was no cause for concern at all.

The Atkins diet warns that you might develop halitosis (bad breath). I don’t know whether I did or not – no-one said anything, but I started brushing my teeth four-five times a day just in case. I suppose that that’s another benefit of ‘doing Atkins’ – increased oral hygiene. It also warns of constipation. I didn’t get that either, although I didn’t give up black coffee, which has always been a laxative for me. But surely you can’t suffer from constipation if you eat about a 1lb of greens a day? I hadn’t been eating that amount of roughage before starting the Atkins diet! So my two main concerns did not exist.

A couple of weeks later, I was getting bored not going out so much. I was still happy with the diet, but because I am single and am used to going out and drinking beer. So, I decided to go about this scientifically. One day, after work, I drank three pints of Guinness and felt great – the taste was wonderful. Before the diet, I would have drunk five or six pints. To my surprise and delight, the next morning the ketone stick told me that I was still ‘on the diet’. Over the following weeks, I really enjoyed experimenting to find out what would ‘work’ and what would not. I discovered that even a small amount of cider would ruin the Atkins diet; some beers and some lagers were all right; red and white wine were OK. Consuming alcohol does not knock you off the Atkins diet, but it slows down your rate of progress. Even slow progress is progress, I say. Better than giving up the diet or not going out.

Don’t let people encourage you to ‘just have a little bit’. They don’t understand or don’t want to understand the trouble they’re causing you. One’s body can hold two days worth of carbohydrates: one square of chocolate, one slice of bread, a bowl of cornflakes or one sugar in your coffee will cost you TWO days to clear out of your system. Don’t let people do it to you. This is not a diet that you can stop and start when you like, in fact I think that it probably could be dangerous to keep allowing your ketone and other levels to fluctuate wildly. There are also the high fat levels in the content of the Atkins diet, which is not dangerous if you keep to it, because you body devours fat and cholesterol in the absence of carbohydrates.

That is the story so far, with me having got down to under 16 stone and keeping it there until very recently when I moved to the Far East to live. The food is so different here, but once I get used to the food and have my own house and own kitchen, I will get down to 15 stone, I’m sure I will ” without any real effort.

Well, there you have it … My grateful thanks to you, Mr. Blackwell, wherever you are these days, you changed my life and my understanding of food and drink with that book and thank you, Mr. Atkins too.

Diabetes is a continuing malady in which the individuals body is not able to accurately moderate the amount of sugar in the blood. The individuals body cannot govern the sugar in the blood due to the lacking of the insulin.

Diabetes has far and wide ranging health consequences for people who suffer from it. Diabetes largely raises the danger of heart issues, possible blindness. Uncontrolled diabetes can contribute to death.

It is approximated that over 18 million Americans have to live with diabetes, and out of 18 million it is figured that virtually one third are not mindful they suffer from diabetes.

Diabetes is easily diagnosed using a fasting blood glucose test. This test is the most accurate testing you can use. A fasting blood glucose outcome of 126 or higher is a sign of diabetes. In general a fasting glucose test is a separate part of a yearly physical for individuals, mainly adults.

Type 1 diabetes, is mostly diagnosed in teenagers.

Type 2 diabetes or mellitus diabetes is the most common kind of diabetes and is usually observed in adults past the age of 40. Non-insulin dependent diabetes is most commonly influenced by a bad diet and obesity as 80% of adults with Type 2 diabetes are believed to be obese.

There are still arguments on the genetics of diabetes. If both your parents have a type of diabetes, naturally your risk is greater than if only one parent has diabetes. Adult-onset diabetes is generally linked to genetic components and other factors like poor diet and little to no exercise.

A few of the signs of diabetes are undetermined weight loss, unenergized, excessive hunger, consistent urination, dry skin, slow mending sores, sudden vision issues.

If you have been told you have diabetes, you will be required to work rather closely with your health care professional in order to keep your sugar levels in between an acceptable range. You will have to begin testing your blood sugar probably once or twice a day and retaining your results in a diary or journal. You will need to re-vamp your diet and pay particular attention to portions and how many meals you eat.

A diabetic diet does not necessarily mean that you can’t ingest foods that are comprised carbohydrates, it just means you can not consume them in an unlimited fashion. Exercise done on a steady basis has been found to aid and help control blood sugar levels. It is advised that individuals with diabetes had better exercise half an hour to an hour a day.

Dealing with diabetes can be overpowering at first, and it will take dedication on your part. Of course, millions of people experience good and active lives with diabetes.
