Tour_200 It is always a major production when the new Tour de France route is announced. It’s scheduled to happen Tuesday, and this year the Versus network is offering free live-streaming video of the news conference from France. The coverage will begin at 2:30 a.m. PDT, and after the announcement, at 8 a.m. PDT, Versus will host a live chat with analyst Bob Roll and Garmin-Transitions cyclist Christian Vande Velde to analyze the route.

There has been plenty of speculation on what the next Tour might look like, including a theory that cyclists will twice climb the signature l’Alpe d’Huez with its signature 21 switchbacks.

Usually on hand for the announcement are team managers as well as the defending champion and key riders from most teams. The 2010 defending champion Alberto Contador, however, has said he will not attend unless the international cycling federation, UCI, has concluded its investigation into his failed doping test from the 2010 race.

A Contador sample failed a test for the substance clenbuterol. It has been reported as well that tests detected the presence of plasticizer, a component of bags used in blood transfusions. Although there is not an official World Anti-Doping Agency test for plasticizers in use, WADA has wide latitude in putting together doping cases based on several types of evidence.

This will be the first time since 2008 that Lance Armstrong won’t be in the race. After last summer, he retired for a second time when he was unable to contend after a series of first-week crashes. He is still a member of the Radio Shack team that will be represented at the announcement by director Johan Bruyneel, who has come out in support of Contador and the Spaniard’s contention that he ingested clenbuterol through contaminated meat. Several associates of Armstrong have been questioned by or turned over documents to federal prosecutors who are conducting a grand jury investigation into cycling.

Calcium and vitamin D maintained and improved bones in females in few new studies.

Calcium and vitamin D maintained and improved bones in females in few new studies.

Researchers from Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey, recruited 44 overweight pre-menopausal women, average age 38, to take calcium while dieting or while maintaining weight for six months. The dieters took a normal amount of calcium-1,000 mg per day-or a high dose of 1,800 mg per day, while non-dieters took 1,000 mg of calcium per day. Scientists noted that people typically lose bone density when losing weight, but that no bone studies exist on overweight pre-menopausal women who diet.

Women in the regular and higher calcium diet groups lost most of the time 7.2% of body fat without significant decrease in bone mineral density (BMD, a measure of bone strength) and scientists found no signs in the blood that the dieters were losing bones. Physicians also found that the dieters are able to absorb an adequate total amount of calcium from their diets and supplements and accomplished that taking calcium while losing mass helps maintain healthy frame.

In study funded by the U.S. Department of Defense, health center studied bone stress fractures in 4980 female Navy recruits aged 18 to 34 from 2001 through 2005. Recruits took 2,000 mg of calcium plus 800 IU of vitamin D per day or a placebo during the eight week basic guidance period. Over the study period, 160 recruits in the placebo group suffered stress fractures compared to 116 recruits in the calcium/vitamin D group, sense that calcium and vitamin D reduced risk for stress fractures by 20%.

Researchers noted that recruits who had a history of regular work out had lower risk for fractures than did those who had not exercised regularly and that those who smoked had higher rupture risk than non-smokers. Doctors were not expecting to find such a significant bone benefit in such a short period of time and completed that calcium and vitamin D reduced risk for stress fractures.

The feast season is often a time for weight gain for many people. In one study involving 58 overweight, but otherwise healthy adults aged 20-41, supplementing with CLA (conjugated linoleic acid) for five months from June to November reduced corpse fat and prevented mass gain during the holiday season from November to December. Subjects were randomized to obtain either 3.7 grams/day of CLA or a placebo.

Buying Clenbuterol has become a famous shopping experience among many men and women that want to lose weight. They are seeing good and quick results

Tennis psychology is only understanding the make-up of your opponent's mind and gauging the effect of your own strategy on his/her mental viewpoint and also understanding the psychological effects resulting from the various external causes on your own head.

Tennis psychology is the same as understanding the workings of your opponent’s mind and assessing the effect of your own strategy on his/her head and also understanding the mental effects resulting from the various external causes on your own head.

However, it is true that you cannot be a successful psychologist of others without first understanding your own mental processes. Therefore, you must study the effect on yourself of the same thing happening under different circumstances. This is because you react differently in different moods and under different conditions.

You must realize the effect on your game of the resulting irritation, joy, bewilderment, or whatever other form your reaction takes. Does it increase your efficiency? If so, try for it, but never give it to your opponent. Does it rob you of concentration? If so, either remove the reason, or if that is not possible, try to ignore it.

Once you have correctly measured your own reaction to conditions, study your opponents in order to determine their temperaments. Like characters react similarly, and you can judge men of your own type by yourself. Different characters you have to seek to compare with those whose reactions you already know.

Someone who can control his/her own mental processes has an excellent chance of reading those of someone else for the mind works along certain lines of thought and can be studied. One can only control one’s own mental processes after carefully studying them.

A steady, phlegmatic baseline player is seldom a quick thinker. If he were he would not stay on the baseline. The physical appearance of a player is often a pretty clear indication of his/her kind of mind. The stolid, easy-going player, who usually advocates the baseline game, does so because he hates to stir up his/her slow mind to work out a safe strategy of getting to the net.

Then there is the other type of baseline player, who would prefer to remain on the back of the court while directing an attack intending to disrupt up your game. He is a very dangerous player, and a deep, keen thinking antagonist. He achieves his/her results by mixing up his/her length and direction and worrying you with the variance of his/her game. He is a good psychologist.

The first kind of tennis player mentioned above just strikes the ball without much idea of what he is really up to, while the latter always has a solid, thought-out plan and adheres to it.

If you are into the psychology of tennis, you should take a look at our website entitled Tennis Tips for Beginners This and other unique content ” articles are available with free reprint rights.

The Ultimate Fighting Championship

The Ultimate Fighting Championship

Brainchild of Rorion Gracie and Art Davie, the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) was an eight-man single-elimination tournament with very few rules that would award $50,000 to the winner. The basic premise was to find out how different styles of martial arts would fare against each other. Art Davie placed ads in martial arts magazines and sent letters to anyone in any martial arts directory he could find to recruit competitors for the event. Among the takers were kickboxer Patrick Smith, Pancrase fighter Ken Shamrock, and Savate world champion Gerard Gordeau.

While Art Davie felt that Royce’s older brother Rickson Gracie, who was stronger and more skilled than Royce, was the obvious choice as the Jiu-Jitsu representative, Rorion Gracie chose the younger Royce to represent the family style.

In his first match, Royce defeated journeyman boxer Art Jimmerson. He tackled him to the ground using a baiana (morote-gari or double-leg) and obtained the dominant “mounted” position, also pinning Jimmerson’s left arm around the boxer’s own neck. Mounted and with only one free arm Jimmerson conceded defeat, mostly due to frustration rather than submission.

In the semi-finals, Royce fought Ken Shamrock, who showed excellent grappling skills in his first-round submission win over Patrick Smith. Royce immediately rushed Shamrock, who sprawled effectively and got on top of Royce. Shamrock then grabbed Royce’s ankle and sat back to attempt the same finishing hold he used to finish his first match, but Royce rolled on top of him and secured a rear choke that forced Shamrock to tap the mat in submission. Shamrock has later stated that Gracie used his gi suit as a tool for ligature strangulation to perform the submission, protesting the fact that he was not allowed to wear his wrestling shoes because the event organisers had stated that it could be used as a weapon, feeling that the rules for the tournament were created to favor Gracie. Royce disputed the claim and said he had used a no-gi choke, meaning that there is no need to use his gi to apply this choke.

In the finals, Royce defeated Savate World Champion Gerard Gordeau (who broke his hand in the first round of the tournament against Teila Tuli), taking his opponent to the ground and securing a rear choke.

Over the next year, Royce Gracie continued fighting in the UFC, obtaining submission wins over fighters such as Patrick Smith, 250 pound (113 kg) European Judo Champion Remco Pardoel, and Kimo Leopoldo. His final UFC victory was in a match that lasted for 16 minutes (there were no rounds or time limits at the time), during which he was continuously pinned underneath 260 pound (118 kg) wrestler Dan Severn. To end the match, Royce locked his legs in a triangle choke for a submission victory. The match extended beyond the pay-per-view time-slot and viewers, who missed the end of the fight, demanded their money back.

Time limits were re-introduced into the sport in 1995 and MMA legend Ken Shamrock would become the first fighter to survive Royce Gracie’s submission attack and earn a draw. The match lasted for 30 minutes and a 5-minute overtime. Fans have been calling for a rematch ever since. The draw sparked much debate and controversy as to who would have won the fight had judges determined the outcome, or had there been no time limits, as by the end of the fight Royce’s right eye was swollen shut. However, the swollen eye was a result of a standing punch due to a sudden change of the rules in which both of the fighters were restarted on the feet. After this fight the Gracies left the UFC.

At UFC 45 in November 2003, at the ten year anniversary of the UFC, Ken Shamrock and Royce Gracie became the first inductees into the UFC Hall of Fame. UFC President Dana White said; “We feel that no two individuals are more deserving than Royce and Ken to be the charter members. Their contributions to our sport, both inside and outside the Octagon, may never be equaled. ”

Royce’s official UFC record when he left did include one loss. In the second round of UFC 3 Royce was to face fighter Harold Howard in the semi-finals. Although Royce came out to the ring, he was dehydrated as a result of his first round match against Kimo Leopoldo. The announcers of UFC 3 stated that Gracie’s shoulder had been hurt in the previous round. Before the Howard match began, Royce’s corner threw in the towel.

Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) was originally launched in the United States by the “first family of Jiu-Jitsu.” They brought together the very best martial artists from the various disciplines to compete against each other on a level playing field. The goal was to determine which of the disciplines was best. Could a boxer beat a wrestler? Could a kung fu champion beat a karate master?

The first Ultimate Fighting Championship(R) event was held at McNichols Arena in Denver, Colorado in 1993. The undersized Royce Gracie beat bigger, stronger, and faster opponents with his Gracie Jiu-Jitsu to win the tournament. The fledgling sport became an overnight sensation.

The shows became must see TV for fans, but in the early years, the lack of state regulation and significant set of rules led to the show being taken off cable television. After a series of relatively dark years, the Las Vegas based Zuffa LLC took over the company in 2001. They implemented a set of unified mixed martial arts rules, and suddenly MMA was no longer a spectacle, but a legitimate sport.

As the sport has evolved, so have the athletes, and they well know that one particular style will not work in competition on a consistent basis. This means Mixed Martial Artists must learn a variety of martial arts including boxing, wrestling, kickboxing, and Jiu-Jitsu to effectively spar with their opponents.

Under the Unified Rules of Mixed Martial Arts, athletes compete for three five-minute rounds, with championship matches waged over five five-minute rounds. Scoring, like boxing, is done on a ten-point system, with the winner of the round receiving ten points and the loser nine points or less. Unlike boxing, MMA matches are scored not only for effective striking attacks, but for ground fighting effectiveness, submission and take down attempts and defense, as well as ring generalship.

Bouts end via knockout, referee, corner or doctor stoppage, or submission. When a bout ends by submission, the fighter either verbally or physically “taps out,” signaling that he has had enough.

There are many talented fighters in both boxing and Mixed Martial Arts but the truly great fighters are diamonds in the rough. When most people think about the pugilistic sport of boxing there are a few names that all people are familiar with. Those names are often Ali, Tyson, Holyfield, and De La Hoya but without question Floyd “Money” Mayweather is on the hunt to be considered the greatest of all time.

On the other end of combat sports Anderson Silva has elevated himself from being less known by US fans to UFC poster boy and Middleweight champion. Anderson in recent years has shown us that he is out to show that he is the best of all time and willing to fight against the best of the world. When Silva is at his best he shows speed, precision, aggression, devastating knees and knockout ability.

When we speak about the best fighters in either sport it is all about who you test yourself against. In both cases with Mayweather and Silva they have tested themselves against the best in both sports. On Mayweather’s side he has faced notable opponents such as: Jose Luis Castillo, Arturo “Thunder” Gatti, Zab Judah, Oscar De La Hoya, Ricky Hatton, Juan Manuel Marquez and Shane Mosley.

With Anderson he has shut down game opponents such as: Rich Franklin, Forrest Griffin, Dan Henderson, Nate Marquardt, Jeremy Horn, Carlos Newton and James Irvin. Silva has gone on record to say he wants to go down in history as a legend of the sport who is known as the best MMA fighter of all time.

When directly comparing Mayweather to Silva, there are several similarities that can be seen with both fighters. Both fighters seek to be the best in their profession and want to be known as the best fighters in the world.

Anderson and Floyd both have a relentless pace of training as well as the pace that they push in their fights. Fighters who slug it out are often exciting but the true students of the game are precise tactical fighters. Both champions fit into the tactical element of fighting perfectly and show it off against their opponents.

Floyd and Anderson have also shown the unique ability to fight at several different weight classes and remain successful. In both sports changing weight can affect your balance, speed, power and endurance. Few champions in history have mastered this ability but “The Spider” and “Money” have both risen to the challenge.

Anderson has recently been criticized for being too tentative against Thales Leites, Patrick Cote, and Demian Maia. Despite his devastating performances with knockouts and submissions Anderson has been caught showboating and possibly letting fights last longer then they needed to.

Pretty Boy Floyd has also been the focus of criticism due to his overly defensive style of boxing. Fans and critics have called him boring and even sometimes a coward for his style. Floyd has had high profile wins but what fans wish to see is more of a killer instinct.

What is painfully evident with both Mayweather and Silva is the talent, skill, hard work, and dedication to their particular crafts. Cockiness and confidence are commonplace with many top echelon fighters and these two champions are no exception. Floyd shows his cockiness before, during and after his fights. Anderson is more confident mid fight with his colorful antics and movements around his opponents.

Each of these talented men have made their presence known in their combat sports of choice what is left to see is if they will make their marks as legends, icons or simply talented fighters of the moment.

Golf is a very dignified game of rules, manners and etiquette, and it's quite important to know the basics of golfing etiquette before you play golf for the first time.

Golf is a very dignified game of rules, manners and etiquette, and it’s quite important to know the basics of golfing etiquette before you play golf for the first time.

It doesn’t matter whether you are playing alone, in a twosome or in a foursome, golfing etiquette demands that you must always wait your turn. You must remain aware of the group on the next hole and wait until they are well ahead of you before hitting your ball.

Golfing etiquette also means that it is never correct to “hurry” the group in front of you. If you are playing with others, wait for your turn to hit the ball; never hit at the same time as another player.

While you wait for your turn, go to your ball and determine what club you will need to use and how you are going to hit it. This is called “ready golf” and keeps the game moving along. Don’t rush anybody, just be ready.

Another nice piece of golfing etiquette, especially for beginners is ‘playing through’. For example, if your team is holding up the players behind you, perhaps because you are playing consistently over par or taking a long time to choose your club, let them play through. You would simply wave them through, or if they are near enough to you, just ask them if they would like to play through. You will never make an enemy by doing this!

When someone is making a shot, you should be behind them and you shouldn’t make a sound! It is so distracting to be just about to to tee off and just as you pull back, someone decides to jingle coins in their pocket or noisily unwrap a sweet.

Replacing divots. Let’s say you are on the fairway and you hit the ball a bit thick and a clump of dirt and grass goes flying, no problem, but golfing etiquette says that you ought to replace it. On some courses you just put the clod back into the hole and step on it to keep it down, but on most courses, there is a sand/seed mixture on the course to put into the divot. Also, if your ball makes a deep impression when it lands on the green, you ought to use your divot tool to repair it.

As soon as you have completed a hole, replace the flag and leave the green quickly so that the next players can play that hole. Count your score and write it on the scorecard when you’re back at your cart.

There is much more to golfing etiquette of course, but these simple essentials of golfing etiquette will enable you to get through the course without upsetting anyone. If we all keep to golfing etiquette we will keep the game friendly, or not?

There are many arm moves in wrestling, the most well-known of which are the arm drags, arm swings, arm breakers and over the shoulder arm drags. Another wrestling arm manoeuvre is the arm bar take down. The arm bar works by forcing the opponent’s arm downwards.

The challenger feels the strain in the shoulder area and the assailant will grip the arms extending them lengthwise. The shoulder is eventually forced to the mat. This is a pin in most instances unless the wrestler can wriggle his/her way out of the hold.

The arm breaker manoeuvres include the slamming of the arms, typically on a part of the opponent’s body where it will hurt. Typically, the pin ends with the scissors hold, where the wrestler’s legs are crossed over the challenger’s body, holding his/her shoulders down to the mat.

The various moves and holds look dangerous in the ring, but the reality is that the moves are all show, i.e. a theatrical display to get attention. The actors rehearse their scenes long before they get into the ring and are trained to send ’signals’ to end the bout when they wish to.

The wrestling moves seem real on television, because the cameras and other distractions, including models, divert the attention of the viewers. Wrestling is really quite similar to magic acts. Magicians rehearse their stage act before they take to the stage. There is always a gimmick or an explanation, yet the magician performs his act so professionally and the audience is so distracted, that the magician makes people believe that he or she is doing the thing for real.

The ‘arm drags’ involve the assailant getting the opponent in a hook move and then flipping the challenger down onto the mats. Most of the sequences are devised by one or the other of the wrestlers and sometimes it may become a popular move and so taken up by others. Two of the older moves are the Gallatin and the Banana Split

The ‘over the shoulder’ move should be called the ‘body slam’ since the opponent throws the challenger over his shoulder, slamming him/her down onto the mat. At one time, this wrestling manoeuvre was probably a ’slammer’, but today it is called the shoulder-arm throw manoeuvre.

The ‘wringer; is another of the arm moves in wrestling that is often called the ’spin wrist lock hold’. This manoeuvre is often followed up by the Irish Thrash moves, mallet locks or gouges.

A few other arm moves include the arm stretches, arm breakers, arm wringer, arm locks, arm bar and arm scissors. While the arm moves are famous in the ring, there are many moves you may see today that you would never have heard of when wrestling first began in ancient days. The Amityville Horror is one of wrestling’s more modern moves. Although, I haven’t worked out what this move entails, we are about to look at it together.

From what I can see the Amityville Horror is just a way to persuade people to rent or buy the film with the same name. The move is listed in the list of wrestling moves, however, as of yet, no information is available about what this move is all about. Moves are essentially marques made up by the wrestlers themselves, so I’m assuming that the wrestler felt he had devised one of the most horrific moves in wrestling and so he called it the Amityville Horror.

Why do some moves get roaring applause? Well, it can start when a wrestler in the ring brings in something new and it becomes his trademark, popular final move in bouts.
